Courtesy of Norry Wilson from Lost Glasgow, we’ve been given a glimpse into the past with these fascinating ‘lost images’ of Cumbernauld in 1982 taken by Calum MacAlister

A ping in my inbox, and a mysterious e-mail from one Hector
MacAlister who, while clearing his late Geography teacher dad’s house,
had found a tranche of 35mm slides taken on various field trips to
Glasgow.

Roll on a couple of weeks, and we manage to hook-up in Tennents Bar,
on Byres Road where, like a couple of Cold War spies, the package is
exchanged.

Once home, I’m stymied; how do I scan the pics to reveal their secrets?

A quick plea on Facebook, and a pal comes to my rescue with the loan
of a 35mm scanner – with no instructions!

After much faffing, and swearing! – I work out how to use it.

One set features Cumbernauld, in 1982.

Who better to pass them onto than Chris, Alison and Mitch at Concrete Dreams?

So, here they are, taken by Calum MacAlister, on his trusty Kodak
Retinette camera.

‘Enjoy!’
